The use of survey data to study migration-environment relationships in developing countries: Alternative approaches to data collection

The article analyses the relationship between migration and environmental change. Surveys and household sensing are discussed as ways to measure the effect of the environment on migration, and three main data collection methods (existing population data, adding questions to existing surveys, and the creation of a whole new survey). The case studies of Burkina Faso, Guatemala, and Ecuador show these strategies in practice and allow readers to see the advantages and disadvantages of each choice.
