Inflows combine official temporary and permanent migration inflows. Data are not directly comparable across countries due to differences in criteria to identify international migrants (e.g. definition of residence and duration of stay), methods of data collection, sources of international migration flow data (e.g. population registers, border statistics, issuance of residence permits, etc.), and criteria to identify the country of origin and destination of the migrant.

For all years, data for Chile and Mexico are from OECD. In all other cases, OAS data cover inflows of foreign population into countries in the Americas until (including) 2015, and OECD data cover inflows of foreign population into selected OECD countries until 2022.
