Data Bulletin: Informing a Global Compact for Migration (GCM)

About the Data Bulletin Series 

"Data Bulletin: Informing a Global Compact for Migration", launched by IOM’s Global Migration Data Analysis Centre (GMDAC), aims to summarize in an accurate and accessible fashion the existing evidence on migration to support the discussions and any follow-up activities of a Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration.

As part of the project “Support to IOM for the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration,” the Data Bulletin series outlines the strengths and limitations of relevant migration data, and highlight innovative data practices which are pertinent to a global compact for migration. The series reflects the collaborative nature of a global compact for migration process by including relevant contributions from different parts of IOM as well as other agencies and migration experts.

Data Bulletin Series

IOM’s Global Migration Data Analysis Centre released an edited volume of the “Data Bulletin Series: Informing the Implementation of the Global Compact for Migration” ahead of the Intergovernmental Conference to Adopt the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, taking place in Marrakesh on 10-11 December 2018.
This edited volume contains 17 Data Bulletins produced by IOM as well as external experts and partner agencies. It spans a broad range of topics covered by the Global Compact for Migration, highlighting currently available data sources as well as data gaps and challenges relevant to each of them. Data Bulletins contains illustrative examples of initiatives and recommendations of investments needed to strengthen the evidence base underpinning the respective thematic area.
